Bhubaneshwar, Dec 2 (UNI) Khurda Road Division of East Coast Railway (ECoR) has once again demonstrated exceptional operational strength by achieving its best-ever loading performance, reaffirming its position as the top-performing division in freight handling across Indian Railways.
The Division continues to deliver record-breaking results, underscoring its pivotal role in India’s freight movement and economic growth.
Khurda Road Division continues to lead the nation in overall traffic handling, achieving an impressive 209 million tonnes up to November 2025, consisting of 115 million tons of loading and 94 million tons of unloading, said ECoR officials on Tuesday.
Bilaspur Division ranked second with 169.6 million tonnes, followed by Dhanbad Division (152.8 MT) and Chakradharpur Division (145.8 MT).
The Division has set a new national benchmark by handling 200 million tonnes in just 235 days (as on 21.11.2025). This is the fastest-ever achievement in Indian Railways, surpassing its own previous record of 250 days in 2024–25.
Khurda Road Division achieved a historic 14.441 million tonnes of loading in November 2025, surpassing all previous November figures _ 12.990 MT (Nov 2023); 12.780 MT (Nov 2021) and 12.690 MT (Nov 2024). This is the first time the Division has crossed the 14-million-tonne mark in any November.
In addition to higher loading, the Division recorded a significant rise in freight earnings that includes ₹1370.64 crore in Nov 2025 against ₹1143.20 crore in Nov 2024 registering an increase of 19.9%. This outpaced the loading growth of 13.8%, reflecting improved freight composition, better realization, and efficient logistics management.
Despite natural challenges, including cyclonic conditions and heavy rainfall, Khurda Road Division ensured uninterrupted freight movement through robust planning, coordinated efforts, and real-time monitoring.
This outstanding performance has been made possible by efficient rake allocation and movement; Close coordination with freight customers; High-performance terminal operations; dedicated efforts of Operating, Commercial, and field teams and Strong leadership under East Coast Railway administration, concluded the officials.
